Before the game

When the game begins, it can be difficult to enforce rules relating to shoes. Therefore, I suggest that all officials check shoes BEFORE the game begins. That usually is a quick, painless process, one that brings the teams together and promotes sportsmanship. The best way is to line up each team with their backs facing the middle of the field. Then, once they are aligned, have them display their shoes, one at the time, from behind.
