Keep them up!

When talking about rucking, rugby officials need to make sure they focus on a couple of key concepts:

  1. Players must come into the ruck from behind the tackled man; and
  2. Players  must attempt to "bind" with teammates by joining arms around their respective bodies.

If a player enters the ruck from in front of the tackled man, or falls to the ground in an effort either to secure the ball or guard it from the other team, that player is in violation. Both infractions should be treated as minor penalties, and the ball should be awarded to the defending team with a kicking option.
